Rail moves 69% more people into/from and within London than twelve years ago - that's 1.76 million rail journeys every day.
Britain’s rail network comprises 15,795 route kilometres, over 2,500 stations, 40,000 bridges and tunnels, and 9,000 level crossings.
In excess of £30 billion has been invested in Britain’s rail infrastructure and stations since 1995/6. Over the next five years, more than £10 million is scheduled to be spent on track renewals, signalling, stations and structures, and £8.6 billion on rail expansion schemes.

The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) welcomes the news that the Crossrail Bill has passed through Parliament and received its Royal Assent last night.
