In excess of £30 billion has been invested in Britain’s rail infrastructure and stations since 1995/6.
Passenger punctuality is gradually improving - the latest Moving Annual Average is 88.8%, an improvement of 1.3% compared to the figure 12 months ago.
In 2006/7 one billion and 164 million journeys were made (more than in any year since 1958) and a total of 46.5 billion passenger kilometres travelled (the highest since 1946).
