CrossCountry's personalised timetables break new ground

7th April 2008
CrossCountry
CrossCountry has broken new ground by becoming the first train operating company to offer its customers a bespoke timetabling service covering the entire national rail network. This enables them to create and download personalised timetables when visiting the company’s website at www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk Alternatively, they can ask for their timetable to be emailed to them.

Website users can simply create a personalised timetable to meet their needs, stipulating journeys via specific stations and receiving a display of all calling points of their service. The service, designed by Kadfire/Hacon, is ideal for travelling over CrossCountry’s diverse and extensive network.

This month sees the latest phase of CrossCountry’s national marketing campaign designed to raise awareness of the company’s brand and this will further promote the value and benefits of using the website to book tickets online. It builds on the successful nationwide franchise launch campaign and monthly e-mail news updates and will highlight destinations available to customers from their local stations, service frequency, timetables and ticket prices.

Leaflets are being sent to 2.6 million homes close to Britain’s busiest 20 stations served by CrossCountry and will also be available on board trains.

Four lucky customers stand to win free CrossCountry travel for a year when they register for personalised online timetables relevant to their journeys. Competition entry is available only via the CrossCountry website, and four draws will be made to find the winners.

CrossCountry Managing Director Andy Cooper said: “We run trains to a wide range of destinations of great appeal to leisure travellers and our fast, frequent and good value services are an attractive alternative to stressful and increasingly expensive motoring. By registering online, customers can have all the information they need at their fingertips.”
